I wrote this song in 2018 while walking through the old city of Chiang Mai, Thailand. I was spending my second consecutive winter break there, enjoying the warm weather and soaking up the cultural and creative atmosphere. I think the verse and chorus came to me during one leisurely stroll and the bridge during another. I love to walk and to hear from God while doing so!
This song is inspired by 2 Corinthians 3:18 and the concept that we are conformed into Christ’s image as we awaken to the fact that we already reflect His likeness and glory. Mirror, Mirror is featured in Keys in the Sand Chapter 6 – Thrilled. I’m not sure who said it first, but in recent years I’ve been deeply impacted by the statement that Jesus didn’t come to be an example for us, but of us. May this song internalize that truth for you as you listen.
